Flooring!!!

Things are going well! My dad helped me get the kitchen together (microwave and fridge in) and he got the flooring put down in the laundry room. We even have the new dryer hooked up in there and running. Unfortunately we have the new washer hooked up downstairs since there is no plumbing in the new laundry room yet. The good news is that we sold our washer/dryer and range in 4 days on Craig’s list. It would have been humorous watching Jan and I the first time we ran the washer. We sat on the floor and watched the clothes tumble! Friday nights aren’t what they used to be. :)

We had a day and a half fiasco trying to get the in-floor heat running. Seems like it was a comedy of small errors that caused everyone a big headache. Unfortunately my dad couldn’t stay to help me start on the flooring in the new wing because we had to let the flooring run and evaporate the moisture out of the concrete. We did however, get the newel posts for the stairway to the office in and planned the attack on the flooring. Finally on Sunday Wiley and I started putting down the new flooring.

Sometime in the last couple of weeks I got the front door (mostly) stained and clear coated but I forgot to get a picture of that.

Right now we have heard that counter tops will be here in the next two weeks but no one has scheduled anything with us yet so we are still skeptical. We hope it happens though since we are down to the last 3 weeks before the baby comes.

We picked out carpet today and the guy comes to measure tomorrow…hopefully that will happen pre-baby also….not sure.

Here are some pictures for everyone….

Still moving along

We are now under 4 weeks until the baby will be born, and we are hoping that we will atleast have most of our flooring in, countertops in, and most of the plumbing finished. The electricians came last week and hung most of our light fixtures. They have some more to come back and finish, but hopefully they will return soon and get it all done.

My Mom (Betsy) was here for a long weekend and she cleaned the whole place. WOW does it feel more like home. There was so much drywall dust, sawdust, and other particulates just everywhere and bless her heart she cleaned it all. Chuck (Chris' Dad) is up here this week to help start some of the flooring. We are thrilled to have him here. Today he is getting the laundry room flooring started.

So it's coming along. It's slower now because the contractor's are starting to be a little scarce. But we knew it would slow down here at the end.

Love to you all.

Mello Weekend

I didn’t have much work to get done at the house but I was still running. I picked up all of the laminate flooring (30 heavy packages) and got it in the new living room. Then we picked out and picked up all of our lighting for the house! That’s exciting. I still have to run to Lowe’s for a few more exchanges tomorrow.

They are coming to measure for the counter top this Wednesday. That means another 3-6 weeks to get it in. Hopefully by mid-this week we will have a mostly operational kitchen. Our hope is that we can get the oven, cook top, microwave, and refrigerator all hooked up. We ordered a SileStone counter top so Jan is pretty excited.

Her are some pictures of our new kitchen cabinets:
