Withdrawal

Poor Dylan has had a rough couple of days without the plugs. On the first night he was up crying (on and off) until midnight. Then he woke up at 3 am and couldn't comfort himself back to sleep so I got up and finally brought him down stairs and he fell asleep on my chest on the couch close to 4am. He woke up again at 7:30 and immediately asked to watch monster trucks on TV!

Saturday all of my family was hear for Christmas and he couldn't fall asleep for nap - he threw a fit instead. So he got to have "quiet time" and watch a movie in mom and dad's bedroom (which worked out great for Jan because she got to nap while he watched TV).

Saturday night went better because he was soooo tired. So he cried until about 10 and then just crashed from being so exhausted. :( But at least he slept until 8:30!

Today he threw another 5 alarm fit when we were supposed to be leaving the house to do some shopping. I feel so bad for him because you can see that he doesn't have any other way to handle stress and anger anymore...

I stayed home with him while he threw his fit and Jan and Cayden went shopping. He only cried and fought for 5 minutes or so and finally fell asleep for nap as I sit here in the rocker in his room and post this. Hopefully that means he's getting better.

Here's his prize that he loves so much:

I feel so bad for the poor guy, it's like he's going through withdrawal. He gets so upset and he just can't find any way to deal with it, so he cries and arches his back and kicks. I feel so much better when he finally falls asleep and is peaceful. I know this will all pass in a couple of days and the plug will be history but it's hard making the little guy grow up and take his comfort item away.

I sure do like your new monster truck, Dylan. Good news...someday we'll all talk about how hard it was to give up the non. Right now, it's just darn hard.
