Party - MN style

We made it to a true Minnesota party this past weekend. It was the 20th annual Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival. It appears as though 20 years ago there were a small number of Minnesotans standing around and one of them said, “Hey look a lake – let’s have a party!”

The boys had a blast and we spent 4 hours out in the cold on a frozen lake. There were hay rides, snow bowling, ice skating, Viking kick sleds, ice miniature golf, dog sled rides, music, a goofy hat competition, food, a juggling magician, and fireworks - all out the lake. We went with the Sarkela’s and everyone had a blast. Cayden’s highlight was winning a blue ribbon on the recycle bin race (with Dad pushing of course) and the dog sled ride. Who says you can’t have fun in the cold?

Matt, Will, Jan and Cayden ready for their turn in the recycle bin races.

Chris was a terrible driver on the Viking kick sleds - Cayden even said so.

Cayden, Dylan, Hadley, and Will back from their dog sled ride.

Chris, Dylan, Teresa (green coat) and Hadley on the move in the recycle bin race. I think the kid who's dad fell still came in 3rd! :) I dove across the finish line to tie for first in this race.

Hope you are enjoying the winter in your neck of the woods!!
