I took Jan on a surprise date last week. We took a trip down the Mississippi on stand up paddleboards. All summer we have seen some lifeguards for the triathlons on these boards and we thought it would be fun to try it out. Through Groupon I found a place called Stand Up MN that gives tours down the river - even better! We took a trip with Austin as our guide and had a great time! The are very easy to ride and it was a unique way to see the river and downtown MPLS.
We got the hang of it in no time and we got to go under a train moving across a bridge, between a bridge that is still under construction, and right towards downtown.
We stopped on an island that has some Blue Herons nesting and had a quick snack and a ride on the rope swing.
It was a great date!
