On the mend

Bentley is home and recovering well. It doesn't take much for him to get tired - short walk around the back yard about does it. You can tell his mind is better than his body. He gets all poised to play but and wants to romp around. He is pretty much on the leash when he isn't sleeping. Fortunately for us he is sleeping a lot right now! He occasionally gets a little too excited out side, wanting to chase a leaf or bark at something and we have to bring him in right away.

Here is a picture of his surgery wound - 26 staples to close it up so it looks like he has a zipper. The patch you see is a pain killer patch and we took it off on Monday. If you look close right by the blanket on the top of his side you'll also see the hole from the chest tube that was letting the air out through the ordeal.

I believe Jan takes him in on Friday to get his staples out and learn if he had a pre-existing lung disease or if it was trauma related. Keep your fingers crossed for trauma or we may be in for more complications!

Wow! That's a war wound there! Poor guy. Not sure what I had pictured, but I didn't realize the scar would be that invasive.
Sure do hope he doesn't have the lung disease!!!
Hang in there!!!
